OnePlus recently launched its first WearOS-powered smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 2, but it seems it’s already preparing another one according to a new leak. In February, OnePlus launched its Watch 2, which was powered by two processors and two operating systems, both of which switched seamlessly and provided better battery life as described in our review. However, a new OnePlus wearable has now been spotted on a certification website in China and it bears some similarities to the existing model.
The listing on Chinese certification website TENAA even has a picture of the watch in question. The certification for this mysterious OnePlus wearable was issued on May 19 this year and is labeled with the model number OPWW234 by Oppo, which is OnePlus’ parent company.
Starting with the image of the smartwatch submitted for certification, it clearly shows the OnePlus logo on what appears to be a fairly large screen (considering the size of the strap buckle). The screen has a bezel, but it feels a bit thinner than the Watch 2 and also has a few bezels on it.
The three-quarter profile of the watch does make it look a lot slimmer compared to the chunky OnePlus Watch 2, but that could just be the angle from which the photo was taken. This smartwatch (which could be the OnePlus Watch 3) also appears to have two buttons like the OnePlus Watch 2 has, but both are facing outwards compared to the other (multifunction) button which was facing down thanks to an odd placement. The eyelet design and strap placement seem similar to what’s already available on the outgoing model.

The listing as expected has no product name, but the basic specs in the listing suggest it has a 500mAh battery capacity similar to the currently available OnePlus Watch 2, but also features an LTE radio (via eSIM support) for connectivity that is missing from the current model.
The specs also suggest that the device will run Android, which is a slightly different implementation compared to the OnePlus Watch 2 which uses both WearOS and RTOS as operating systems. So, it is not clear if this new smartwatch will have dual architecture as the Watch 2.
The watch in question communicates with a smartphone via Bluetooth, and also has Wi-Fi and NFC, as noted in the listing. It also supports common global positioning systems (GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS).
It is not clear at this time when this smartwatch will be announced or unveiled. But given that it has reached the certification stage, there is a high probability that it will be released soon. What also remains unclear is its positioning. This watch has cellular connectivity compared to the existing model so it could be a slightly modified variant of the same and eventually be labeled as the OnePlus Watch 2S. If it’s a brand new model, we could be looking at a OnePlus Watch 3 or an Ultra model, like the one Samsung seems to be in the works.
