Google Pixel 9 to Introduce AI Custom Sticker Creative Assistant, Emoji Generation: Report

The Google Pixel 9 will reportedly get a new app that will allow users to create their own stickers using artificial intelligence (AI). This feature could be available on future Google smartphones thanks to a new app called Creative Assistant, which is said to be in the works. The move is expected to pit Google against Apple’s Genmoji, a similar AI sticker creation feature that was unveiled as a feature coming to the iOS 18 update at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 keynote earlier this month.

AI Stickers on Google Pixel 9

A report from Android Authority says that Google is developing a Creative Assistant app that is slated to debut on the Pixel 9 series later this year. It is said to provide artificial intelligence capabilities that could allow users to create their own stickers. The report suggests that it may also offer the same feature with emojis.

The new Creative Assistant app is supposed to be exclusive to the Pixel, and a mention of it has reportedly been spotted in a TPU-related binary in the Tensor chip. Additionally, it is also reported to be referenced by the Google Markup app that was released with Android 15 Beta 3.

The app’s package name will reportedly be “com.google.android.apps.pixel.creativeassistant”. According to the report, the Markup app will feature a new “remix” option, which is said to offer a feature to create stickers using generative artificial intelligence. This sticker can then be added to a screenshot or image.

According to rumors, the Google Pixel 9 series will include three models – Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and the new Pixel 9 XL. All three smartphones are expected to be powered by the Tensor G4 SoC and may offer AI capabilities. The Pixel 9 XL is said to be a brand new phone that was recently spotted on Geekbench.

According to the listing, it is expected to have 16GB of RAM, a komodo motherboard based on the Arm architecture, and a “sched_pixel” controller. The list shows 1,950 points in the single-core test and 4,655 points in the multi-core test scored by the Google Pixel 9 XL.
