The iOS 18 Control Center update provides a faster way to turn off your iPhone

Apple unveiled several new iPhone features during its iOS 18 unveiling at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on Monday. One of the key highlights was the update to the Control Center, which received a new gallery of controls with many more options than before. Additionally, users will also be able to swipe through pages to access additional controls and toggles. One feature that Apple didn’t show off but made its way into iOS 18 is an easier way to turn off your iPhone.

A new shortcut to turn off the power on iPhone

iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 includes an updated Control Center. One notable addition is the ability to quickly turn off the iPhone. Instead of pressing and holding the volume down + power buttons and then swiping the slider, the new power button can be toggled to quickly turn off the device.

As you can see in the image above, this shortcut can be found in the Control Center in the upper right corner of the screen. To open it, just swipe down to open the Control Center. Press the new power button and the slider used to turn off the iPhone will appear.

The Gadgets 360 staff was able to test the availability and usability of this feature by installing the iOS 18 Developer Beta 1 update. This new shortcut is just one of many features that Apple added to the iPhone in its new update, but did not advertise during the developer event. .

Extended range

Another feature that Apple hasn’t advertised but is said to have already rolled out is extended range. In iOS 18, the iPhone is said to continue to display the time even if it runs out of battery for a long time. The discovery was made by a user from the iOSBeta subreddit.

In addition, an “iPhone can be found” banner also allegedly appears at the bottom of the screen, suggesting that the Find My feature can last longer with extended battery life.
