Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 with support for artificial intelligence capabilities, 120Hz display launch

On Friday, May 7, the Qualcomm company announced its latest processor for mobile devices – Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. The chipset is made according to the 6-nm process and is equipped with an Adreno graphics processor. It comes with 5G support and boasts artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities thanks to the AI ​​Engine. It is assumed that it will work on smartphones of the lower and middle segments. The chipset follows the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC that was introduced in March.

In a blog post, Qualcomm said its latest mobile processor delivers “performance, gaming and intelligent assistance.” It is built on a 64-bit architecture and has Kryo processor cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.3 GHz. It is claimed to have an AI engine including Qualcomm Hexagon Vector eXtensions to ensure fast performance.

In addition, it features Qualcomm Sensing Hub with a low-power artificial intelligence system that supports always-on hardware-accelerated voice assistants, multi-microphone far-field detection, and echo cancellation. According to the company, the built-in Adreno GPU supports games at 120 frames per second. Qualcomm says that devices with this chipset will have LPDDR4x RAM and built-in UFS 2.2 storage.

The chip supports Full HD+ displays with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 SoC will be able to support up to 108-megapixel sensors, and the chipset features a triple 12-bit Spectra ISP setup that offers AI-enhanced low-light shooting capabilities. It can also play videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 60 frames per second.

The new Qualcomm chipset includes the Snapdragon X51 5G Modem-RF system with support for mmWave and Sub-6 5G networks. It offers global 5G Multi-SIM support for networks and promises peak download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps. The chip also received Qualcomm FastConnect 6200 technology and supports Bluetooth 5.2.

The company says its new mobile processor supports satellite systems such as QZSS, Galileo, Beidou, GLONASS, NavIC and GPS with pavement-level accuracy. It also supports fast charging up to 4+ via USB Type-C.
