In an exclusive interview with Gadgets360, Xiaomi has confirmed that it will launch a new smartphone in the Rs 50,000 price segment. The company has confirmed that it will launch the Xiaomi 14 Civi in India on June 12, 2024. The company’s latest smartphone will bring Leica cameras to India for the first time under Rs 50,000. The brand wants to blow up the market by introducing the most advanced features and specifications in the latest Xiaomi smartphone 14 Civi.
Xiaomi 14 Civi to be India’s first sub-Rs 50,000 smartphone with Leica lens
In 2022, Xiaomi partnered with Leica to launch the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the first smartphone with Leica lenses. The brand did not stop there; it introduced a number of Leica smartphones including Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, Xiaomi 13 series, etc.
However, they were mainly for the global market, and the Xiaomi 13 Pro was launched in the Indian market only last year. This year, the brand also introduced the Xiaomi 14, which is equipped with Leica lenses, but the flagship smartphone is aimed at the premium segment.
Now we have the Redmi Note 13 series taking the mid-range segment by storm with the high-end Redmi Note 13 Pro+ priced at Rs 34,999 for the top-end variant. The company plans to bridge the gap between the premium and mid-range segments with a new affordable flagship smartphone, so the brand is introducing the Xiaomi 14 Civi.
Anuj Sharma, Xiaomi’s India Marketing Director, confirmed that the company is gearing up to launch a smartphone priced around Rs. 50,000, Xiaomi 14 Civi. This makes this phone India’s first smartphone with Leica lenses.
The Xiaomi 14 Civi may break new ground at a sub-Rs 50,000 price point in India
The sub-Rs 50,000 segment is currently one of the quietest segments in the country, dominated by brands like OnePlus and iQoo in terms of product mix. The OnePlus 12R is currently the brand’s flagship smartphone in this segment, while the iQoo 12 is another example of delivering flagship features at an affordable price. But other than that, we don’t have much competition. This is why Xiaomi is targeting this segment in its latest Xiaomi 14 Civi.
The brand is planning to introduce Leica branded lenses which should make it more attractive along with other premium features. Hopefully, the company will introduce some, if not all, of the features and customizations they developed with Leica in the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Civi smartphone.
Xiaomi 14 Civi specifications and features revealed
The company also revealed some key features and specifications of the Xiaomi 14 Civi, which gives us a hint of the upcoming affordable flagship device.
The brand has confirmed that the upcoming phone will have a triple camera on the back. You get a 50-megapixel Summilux main sensor, a 50-megapixel portrait telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
In addition, the brand also confirmed that the smartphone will feature a dual selfie camera, again a first in the segment in 2024. You get a 32-megapixel main lens and a 32-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.
As for the display, the Xiaomi 14 Civi will have a quad-curved display, which will again be a first in the segment. The display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The phone will feature a 1.5K AMOLED display with a screen refresh rate of 120Hz. It also has HDR10+, Dolby Vision, stereo speakers and 68+ billion colors.
The smartphone will have a sleek design of 7.6 mm. Interestingly, the rear camera module will have a star-shaped camera ring. It will be available in Cruise Blue, Matcha Green with vegan leather trim and Shadow Black with matte finish.
The brand also confirmed that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. The phone will be preloaded with Xiaomi HyperOS. As for the battery, the Xiaomi 14 Civi will be powered by a 47,000mAh battery with 67W turbo charging support.
