Samsung Galaxy Ring ‘Lost Mode’ for Tracking Lost Wearables Spotted in Development: Report

Samsung’s Galaxy Ring is expected to be unveiled at the next Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the next generation of foldable phones. The smart ring is touted to bring several health and sleep monitors, and rumors of its functionality are currently surfacing on the web. A recent report indicates that Samsung is preparing a new feature that will help Galaxy Ring owners quickly locate their wearables. The APK teardown of Samsung’s Find app includes strings that suggest the inclusion of a new way to find a lost Galaxy Ring.

Samsung Galaxy Ring could offer ‘Lost Mode’ feature

The addition of new features for the Galaxy Ring in the Find app was noticed by Android Police via an APK takedown. According to the report, strings in the code such as “Tap start to make the light on your ring blink” and “Ring light is blinking”, suggest that the wearable will have “Lost Mode” and lights in its body.

The lights built into the Galaxy Ring will reportedly flash continuously after activating Lost Mode in the Find app. This would help users locate the flashing wearable by turning off other lights in the room.

The Samsung Find app will reportedly notify users if the light is flashing or if it can’t connect to the ring to trigger the flashing. It is also expected to allow users to lock their Samsung accounts from within the app to protect users’ ringtone data.

The presentation of the Samsung Galaxy Ring is expected soon

The Galaxy Ring was teased in January during the launch event of the Galaxy S24 series. It appeared during MWC in February. It is expected to be officially launched on July 10 at the next rumored Unpacked event, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. It is expected to be priced at Rs. 35,000 in India. In the US, it is likely to be priced between $300 and $350 (roughly Rs. 25,000 to 30,000)

The Galaxy Ring will run on Samsung’s Health platform. It is confirmed that it will be available in three color options, possibly black, gold and silver. It is expected to offer heart rate and SpO2 (blood oxygen) monitoring among other things.
