According to a recent leak, the iPhone 16 Pro may have a larger rear camera module compared to previous generations. Even though Apple’s next-generation smartphone is slated to launch in September, rumors have already started surfacing, hinting at various aspects of it such as design, specs, color options, and more. The tipster now claims that the phone could come with a larger camera island, hinting at new sensors that could be on the way.
Bigger cameras on the iPhone 16 Pro
In an X post dated May 28, a whistleblower known as MajinBu posted screenshots of an alleged iPhone 16 Pro case with noticeably larger cutouts for the camera. “The camera module is huge in the iPhone 16 Pro case,” the tipster captioned the post. This allegedly means that the iPhone 16 Pro will have larger camera sensors than its predecessor.
It is also reported that Apple may increase the display sizes for its Pro models. The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to get a 0.2-inch increase, changing it from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is also reported to sport a massive 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR display.
Earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 16 Pro could also get a larger sensor with 5x optical zoom, just like the Pro Max model.
The iPhone 16 Pro display could be brighter
Earlier this month, it was reported that the iPhone 16 Pro will not only get a larger display, but also a brighter one. In a Weibo post (translated from Chinese), Instant Digital’s insider claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro will support up to 1,200 nits of typical brightness when playing SDR content. If true, that would mean a potential 20 percent increase over the iPhone 15 Pro’s 1,000 nits limit.
On the other hand, peak brightness can reportedly reach 1,600 nits when playing HDR content, suggesting that there won’t be an upgrade over current phones.
